LFG EVENT: XMAS PARTY - FOOD OF THE WORLD + CROP SWAP

Hear Ye!  Hear Ye!

Join the fun at the LFG Christmas Party!

LFG members Joanne Young and Chris Downes are hosting this year’s December Christmas Luncheon on Sunday December 4th at their Logan Reserve property on the Logan River, named ‘Tumbling Downs”.

The property is approximately 7 acres, with a large dam and cooling breezes in the afternoon off the river.

The property is still a work in progress and Jo and Chris are continuing to develop the property into a sustainable and functional home and gardens, incorporating her animals, using permaculture principles. Jo's dream is that it will also become a butterfly haven.

Crop Swap 10am - 11am

Jo and Chris are happy to host a crop swap for any interested people before the main event. Please bring your excess home grown produce or other goods (preserves, jams etc) to swap or sell.

Party details 11am-3pm

As the theme is Food of the World, please bring aplate of food to share which represents your cultural background or something unusual or interesting from your garden.  Home-grown is always best if you can!

Your food contribution will earn you a bonus raffle ticket

(see below).

Time: 11am – 3pm Sunday 13th December. Lunch at 12pm please.

Venue: This is an outdoor, undercover event, using an existing open shed on the property plus gazebos.

What to bring: Please bring a chair / picnic blanket, plate, cutlery and cup for yourself and guests.

There will be iced tea and ice cold water provided, as well as hot tea and coffee. Shade will be provided and we are hoping for a nice afternoon breeze off the river.

Activities: There will be a range of fun games and activities… for the young and young at heart.

We will have a shaded kids area set up, so bring along your children’s favourite colouring in books or suitable games to play.

Raffle details

At this event, we will run a raffle table instead of the usual giveaway table with a separate raffle for an Aquaponics system (made by Pete Vicars).

We started this tradition in 2013. Then, there were so many prizes everyone was able to take away a Christmas present and it was fun!

Please be generous and bring an item of value (which you would like to receive) to place on the raffle table. Each item you bring will earn you a raffle ticket. Suitable items could be unusual plants, cook books, tools, seedlings, garden magazines, safety gear, plant pots, bamboo stakes, hay bales etc …

Additional raffle tickets for the Xmas table can be purchased at $1/ticket or $2 for 3 tickets. The raffle will be drawn after lunch.

Parking details

There’s plenty of parking on site. Please follow the signs and keep to the marked out areas.

Some parts of the neighbouring fence are electrified and care must be taken in this area.

Carpooling is encouraged. Please post details in comments if you are looking for, or if you can offer, a lift.

Entry contribution

Your contribution of between $3 and $5 per person helps Logan Food Gardeners Inc to cover its costs and removes the need for an annual membership fee.

Partners and kids are very welcome. Kids must be supervised due to the open water around the property.

Please RSVP to let us know you are coming, as we are working hard to plan a great day for all.
